Cycling in Collier County offers extensive routes through diverse natural landscapes with predominantly flat terrain, including subtropical wetlands, mangrove forests, and coastal areas, which makes for less strenuous cycling with minimal elevation changes. That flatness is the whole appeal. You do not need to be in racing shape to ride here comfortably.
For an easy urban ride, the Gordon River Greenway offers a paved path through mangrove forest in the heart of Naples, along with the Vanderbilt Drive Path and the Golden Gate Canal Path for those wanting more distance. The Rich King Memorial Greenway in particular is a favorite for locals doing a quick loop before work. It runs along an old canal, stays flat the entire way, and has enough shade to make a summer morning ride tolerable.
If you want ocean views instead of canal views, follow Gulf Shore Boulevard near downtown. The Naples Pier route follows Gulf Shore Boulevard for miles of uninterrupted Gulf of Mexico scenery, and early mornings are especially serene with calm streets and sunrise light. This is the ride to do if someone is visiting and wants the postcard version of Naples on two wheels.
North Collier Regional Park is worth building a whole outing around. The park spans over 200 acres with paved loops well separated from traffic and noise, encircling playgrounds and athletic fields, and it also has water fountains, shaded rest areas, and Sun-N-Fun Lagoon water park for a post ride cool down. That water park detail is a genuinely useful tip for anyone riding with kids in July.
Collier-Seminole State Park has a 3.5 mile off road bike trail bordered by pine forest and hardwood hammock, and Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park has two converted rail bed trails, a five mile west trail through prairies and a seven mile east trail ending at a lake with a boardwalk. These are dirt and grass trails built for mountain bikes, not cruisers, and you will see far more wildlife than people.
For longer touring rides, the Collier Seminole State Park loop via Rich King Memorial Greenway is the most popular touring route in the county at 48 miles, taking around 4 hours and 56 minutes to complete. Note that the CREW Bird Rookery Swamp Trail is currently closed for boardwalk repairs, with reopening expected around August 2026, so check CREW Land and Water Trust's site before planning a trip out there.

The key to riding in North Naples is avoiding major streets like US 41 and Immokalee Road when possible, and being extra careful at intersections since cars run red lights and do rolling stops on right turns. Naples drivers are distracted, especially during season. Ride like nobody sees you.
