It is also the busiest and most expensive stretch of the year. Seasonal residents from the Northeast and Midwest, known locally as snowbirds, start arriving in November, and the crush peaks from January through March, when restaurants stay packed, beach lots fill by mid morning, and hotel rates hit their annual high.
